Happy 110th Birthday, Herb!!!

The following is a press release from September 30, 2022. Below are also some pictures from the birthday parade on Friday where the entire school stood along the road with signs and banners wishing Herb a Happy Birthday as he slowly drove by.

Happy Birthday Herb!!

The Tomorrow River School District is proud to announce, in recognition of the Wolding family’s generous contributions to the school over the course of many years, the naming of the Herbert and Evelyn Wolding Family STEAM Center addition. Approved by district voters in an April 2022 referendum, the STEAM Center will offer exceptionally enhanced learning opportunities for our students in Science, Technical Education, Engineering, the Arts (and Agriculture) and Math (STEAM). It is scheduled to open at the start of the 2024-25 school year.
The Wolding family’s many contributions to the Tomorrow River School District have directly impacted the tech ed department with multiple donations toward the purchase of new updated machinery; the Amherst Middle School with the purchase of new Chromebooks for our students; and the Falcon Pride Project where the family and H.O. Wolding Inc. have combined to contribute more than $200,000 to renovate our beautiful athletic complex. Herbert Wolding, 109 (turns 110 on October 15), attended school in Amherst, but never graduated high school. After earning his eighth-grade certificate, he left school to help with the family’s business. In 1935, at age 23, he founded H.O. Wolding. Two of Herb’s sons, Dick and Don, have served as officers of the company, and Herb’s grandson, Marc, is president of the company today. H.O. Wolding, acquired by Bison Transport in 2019, has employed thousands of people and has had an immeasurably positive economic impact on the Tomorrow River Community throughout the years. “The Wolding family is humbled by this gesture by the Tomorrow River School District to name this incredible new addition in honor of my parents and our family,” says Don Wolding. “Our family has always believed that investing in this great school creates a wonderful return for its students and for our entire community. We are proud of our deep family deep roots here in the Amherst area and are truly blessed by all of our wonderful neighbors who also call this region home. Thank you.”
