Welcoming a New School Year

As August arrives, there is an unmistakable energy returning to our hallways and grounds across Tomorrow River Schools. Our custodial and maintenance teams have done an incredible job preparing our facilities, our new teacher induction is ready to go, and our staff welcome back is right around the corner. Out on the fields and in the gym, fall athletic practices are kicking into gear, bringing Falcon pride into a new season. We are entering this upcoming school year with great excitement and optimism, ready to build on our strong tradition of success.

Leadership teams from each building have worked hard over the summer to create goals and action steps for the district and for each school. We are committed to creating a great experience for every student and every family. This includes conversations on making sure our Profile of a Learner and commitment to public displays of learning remain a focus, and take those practices to the next level.

In addition to the visionary and organizational work happening, we are also having conversations on sustainability and funding the vision. Our current operational referendum is set to expire at the end of this school year. Tomorrow River School District has utilized an operational referendum to help fund our district for the last 20 years. To that end, the Board of Education will vote at our August 17th board meeting on the final renewal language for the expiring operational referendum. That language will be on the ballot for the November 3rd election. This decision comes after a long, open, and intentional planning process. The process was grounded in community feedback, academic data, staffing trends/needs, and fiscal responsibility.

Over the next few months, we will continue to share detailed information regarding the renewal of the operational referendum, our student outcomes, and long-term district plans. We want the community to feel informed, engaged, and excited for the direction of our schools. There will be much more information to come, and I look forward to continuing these conversations as we approach the fall.

Thank you for your partnership as we kick off another great year. We are always better together. Go Falcons!
