AHS Spanish Club 2022-23
WHAT DOES SPANISH CLUB DO?
One of the best ways to practice your Spanish is to travel to a country that speaks the language. We travel to a Spanish-speaking country every other year in order to be immersed in the language and culture of that country. We live with families, try new foods, and explore what the country has to offer. AHS students have traveled to Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Belize.
We also plan and participate in various fundraisers for the trip. These fundraisers may be for the group or individual (travel). Group fundraisers in the past have been the walking taco sale at the River Run and other food sales. Individual fundraisers include selling Pampered Chef and Butter Braids.
Club members organize activities for everyone in the club throughout the year. Day of the Dead cookie making and decorating, Christmas activities, movie nights, etc. are some activities that have been done in the past. We are always looking for ideas and help in planning events.
The Pulsera Project - 2019 - We earned $800 for families in Guatemala and Nicaragua by selling their hand-made bracelets. The funds went directly to the families and also helped to provide education and medical needs.
WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS FOR SPANISH CLUB?
We meet in Mrs. Suski’s room (46) during lunch when needed. Read the announcements and look for informational signs outside of her room in order to sign up for activities.
Due to COVID-19, our 2020 trip to Costa Rica was postponed. A group of 18 students went to Costa Rica in Summer 2023.
