A New Way to Learn and Play

For the 2023-24 school year, Amherst High School will offer all high school students a choice of four targeted Phy Ed classes -- Dual / Individual Sports, Fit Life, Strength & Conditioning, and Team Sports. Here is a brief description for each class:

Dual/Individual Sports: Activities include badminton, pickleball, golf, archery, bowling, etc.

Fit Life: Students will learn about maintaining lifelong fitness while also learning how to develop leadership skills and be a good citizen and community member.

Strength & Conditioning: This glass will focus on strength and conditioning activities to build muscular strength using proper form and functional strength. Students will also work on flexibility and using conditioning drills such as plyometrics.

Team Sports: Students will participate in team play such as basketball, volleyball, handball, softball, flag football, floor hockey, matball, etc.

Because of the new variety, students will be able to choose to meet the Phy Ed graduation requirement doing the activities they prefer, plus take extra Phy Ed classes as electives.
