Great Job to the Varsity Dance team for taking home the win at the Oshkosh West Wildcat Invite! They scored the highest in their division, taking first place in their pom AND hip hop routine! Last Friday night the Falcon wrestling team hosted their first quad and went 2-1 overall for the night. The Falcons defeated a scrappy Edgar team 48-36, dropping to an always tough Tomahawk squad 30-45, and defeated Adams-Friendship 60-18. Saturday the team traveled to the Auburndale Invite! The team placed 8th overall out of 16 teams. This Thursday the Falcons travel to Rhinelander for the Hodag Scramble. Individual results were:

All HS Students: Please make sure that you take your Chromebooks home tonight and any other materials that you may need. These snow days are considered school days, so it is imperative that you check in for attendance and complete the task. Please make sure that you know the expectations from your teachers before you leave class today.
Iola FCCLA is having a Teddy Bear Toss event during the Boys Basketball game on December 15. Those attending make sure to take your stuffed animals to toss during the event! All donated stuffed animals will be given to local emergency outlets for use when needed.

The library will no longer check out Chromebooks to students who forget them or bring them uncharged. It's your responsibility to be prepared for school by bringing a charged Chromebook every day. No chargers will be given out for use at school. If you lost your charger there is a $25 replacement fee for a new one. For those students that currently have multiple Chromebooks checked out, they must be returned by the end of the day Thursday or a $220 replacement fee will be charged to your skyward account this week until it is returned.

The Amherst High School Dance team competed against 106 other HS dance teams from throughout the State last Saturday in Ashwaubenon. Congratulations for placing 6th place in both the Pom and Hip Hop Divisions. Great work!

We are 40% through Make-A-Wish week. Buckets are in the HS Office. The class that donates the highest amount of money by 12 noon on Friday will win a Pizza Party during the Holiday Fun Day on December 22. Don't forget to ask your parents, aunts, uncles, even your boss for a donation. We have found a local business, Northwinds Solar, to match all donations collected by the Amherst schools, up to $1000 towards the Wisconsin chapter of Make-A-Wish. Current Amherst total is at $303. Students, we need your assistance to maximize the matching donation. Every penny donated will go towards granting wishes to Wisconsin Children!

During the week of November 28 - December 2: We will hold a Money Challenge for the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA) Make-A-Wish Week. The WADA organization is raising funds for the Wisconsin Chapter of Make-A-Wish. Each class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) will be able to add to their bucket for donation. The bucket, will be located in the HS office starting Monday, November 28, with the highest money total at 12:00 noon on December 2, will win a Pizza Party during the Holiday party on December 22 at 2 pm. All donations will add up to your total. You can collect from your parents, family members, or anyone willing to donate towards this great cause. Today is the first day of Solidarity Week: Solidarity Week is a student powered campaign dedicated to bringing support to LGBTQ+ students and educators. Spectra members will be in the lunchroom during lunch with paper chain links. Write down what unity means to you and receive a bag of skittles for your support. Sophomores and Juniors: Principal Klieforth sent an email to you yesterday in regards to a firefighting class next year being offered at Amherst High School. This class would certify you to be a firefighter in a volunteer department like Amherst. It would also be a good opportunity if you have plans of being a professional firefighter some day. We need to know if there is enough interest soon so Mid-State can put in for a grant that would fund the class. Please check your email and fill out the form if you are interested.

HS Band will play for the Home Football game TONIGHT! Report to the Band Room by 6:15pm, then get out to the bleachers and be ready to play by 6:25pm.
Trash Ultimate is starting practices next week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday after school. Head to Mr. Swan's room after school on those days if you're interested in trying it out or joining and then the team will head outside!
Interested in joining the dance team? The 2022-2023 dance season is open for sign up in the high school office! The dance team is open to everyone in grades 9-12 interested in dance! Tryouts are September 17. Check your email for more information.

Congratulations to the High School Cross Country team on Tuesday in Iola. Girls overall took 6th out of 16 teams with Lia Peterson placing 6th for girls. Boys overall took 4th place out of 16 teams with Max Voss placing 10th.
