The High School Science Fair is back on! Any students interested in participating this year are welcome to, even if you don't currently have a science class. There might be some incentives in store for you if you decide to participate. Contact any of the science teachers to get some more details about what the Science Fair could look like for you. 

TRASH Ultimate players, stop in to see Mr. Swan at some point before the weekend to get more info on the tournament at UWSP this weekend.

The October 2025 edition of THE TALON, our online newsmagazine, launches today for its first issue of the year. Check out stories and photos from our fall sports teams, including HOCO coverage, as well as original feature stories from your fellow students. And don’t forget to vote in the poll – Who Wore It Best for HOCO Dress-Up Days! Check it out at AmherstTalon.org.

Boys Soccer has been on a roll their last three games. Last Thursday, Amherst beat Gresham 7-0 with six of those goals coming from senior Ayden Kazda. On Monday, Amherst took on conference rival Columbus Catholic and tied 1-1 thanks to a goal from senior Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf, which spoiled Columbus Catholic’s perfect conference record. And last night, in cold and rainy conditions, Amherst beat Omro 1-0 on a goal from sophomore Everett Elizalde in the 70th minute. Tomorrow Amherst will play its final regular season game at Pacelli at 7:00 pm.

Volleyball won last night 3-0 over Iola, which makes Amherst Conference Champions with an impressive 6-1 conference record. Way to go!

Don’t forget to bring in your food items for the Amherst food pantry to Prescher by Friday afternoon and receive an ice cream treat.

Amherst Volleyball went 1-4 this weekend at Wisconsin Dells Tournament. The team played highly competitive games 2-D1, 1-D2, 1-D3, and 1-D4 schools.

If you have multiple pictures but can’t decide which one to send, see Merry in the HS Office or during third hour in the Library.Last day to register for the blood drive. Only six spots remain.  If you are signed up, don’t forget to bring identification with you and a parental release form if you are 16.  Forms are in the HS Office.  

Fling It! If anyone is looking for a fun opportunity to play Ultimate Frisbee with no strings attached, check in with Swan because Trash Ultimate and friends will be playing in a recreational tournament at UWSP October 18-19 and would love to help anyone interested get into the game.

Food Drive: Student Council is having a food drive week.  If a student brings in three items off the Amherst Food Pantry list, they will get an ice cream sandwich from Preacher. Please bring the items to the library.

Last night the Volleyball team won its Dig Pink game and raised more than $1,000 for the local Aspirus Foundation Breast Endowment Center. 

Boys Soccer beat Nekoosa 7-0 yesterday. Seniors Ayden Kazda and Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf each had 2 goals, with Antek Zoromski-Linde, Xavier Farrey, and Everet Elizalde each chipping in one goal apiece. The team improves to 8-1 in conference and 11-2-2 overall. Tomorrow the Falcons host Gresham at home at 7:00 pm.

Another Game, Another Win: Senior Ayden Kazda scored four goals and Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf added another as our Boys Soccer team beat Northland Lutheran 5-2 last night, improving to 8-1 in conference and 10-2-2 overall. The team will travel to Nekoosa next Tuesday for a 4:30 game.

Girls Volleyball won 3-2 over Pacelli with a reverse sweep last night. 

Seniors: Need time to start or finish your college applications? Swanson and Plasch will be hosting a College Application Workshop on October 8 during 3rd hour in the high school office. Get your senior to-do list checked off!

Boys Soccer beat Newman Catholic 7-0 last night in a conference match-up, improving to 7-1 in conference and 9-2-2 overall. Senior Ayden Kazda scored three times, with goals also coming from Milo Graham, Isaac Snyder, and Everet Elizalde. On Thursday, the team will host Youth Night before taking on Northland Lutheran at 7:15 pm. Come support the team and our Future Falcons!

Despite many attempts by Arcadia’s offense, our defense was relentless throughout the second half. Great job, gentlemen! The team will head to Newman Catholic tonight for a 7:00 game.

Boys Soccer got back on track last night, beating Pacelli 6-2. After a lull early in the second half, the team and the crowd were rejuvenated by a bro-to-bro assist and score from Oliver Snyder to Isaac Snyder in the 67th minute, then another goal by Isaac just two minutes later. Other scorers included junior Desmond Rooney, seniors Ayden Kazda and Milo Graham, and sophomore Everet Elizalde. The Falcons will host Tri-County on Thursday at 7:15 pm.

Scoring two goals each were Ayden Kazda, Milo Graham, and Antek Zoromski-Linde, plus sophomore Xavier Farrey and defensive dynamo Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf added one goal apiece. Kudos to senior Daniel Eichmann who chipped in with three assists. Tonight the team faces an undefeated Lourdes/Valley Christian team at home at 7:00. Come to the match and cheer them on!

Boys Soccer is still undefeated after a tough, well-fought 0-0 finish at Kiel yesterday. That puts the team at 5-0-1 for the season and still 3-0 in conference.

Boys Soccer kept the streak alive, finishing 4-0 over Northland Lutheran last night and logging another clean sheet. The team is now 5-0 heading into a highly anticipated match today against Kiel. Go Falcons!

Last night the Boys Soccer team dominated Newman Catholic, winning 8-0 in the rain. Senior Ayden Kazda scored 5 goals, while junior Antek Zoromski Linde and the Snyder brothers each chipped in a goal apiece. Seniors Milo Graham and Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf, and junior Desmond Rooney each had an assist, while Antek had two assists. The team has started 4-0 and will travel to Northland Lutheran on Monday.

Girls Volleyball had two wins last night in a triangular over Tri-County and Shiocton.
