May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in May in the United States since 1949. The purpose of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness of mental illness and stigma, provide education on methods to stay mentally well, draw attention to the prevalence of suicide, and spread a message to all those who have mental health challenges that they are not alone.
