Hello, and welcome to MS English!
My name is Brooke Mahoney, and this is my 5th year in the Tomorrow River School District. I have spent the past 4 years teaching 6th grade, and am excited to start a new adventure in 7th! I have had a great start to my year so far, and am proud to be part a Falcon!
I grew up in Stevens Point, WI, and graduated from SPASH in 2006. Upon graduation, I attended Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, where I majored in Elementary Education (K-6), and Middle School Science Education (6-8). I student taught in Stevens Point the fall of 2006, and have taught summer school there as well for the past 2 summers. I then taught 6th grade in Minnesota for a year, but I am happy to be back close to home, in a town I am very familiar with!
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to become a teacher. The thrill of learning something new everyday, and being able to touch the lives of the children in the community excites me. I enjoy incorporating hands-on and cooperative lessons into daily instruction. I believe students learn best when they can construct their own knowledge through engaging lessons that puts themselves at the forefront.
I look forward to the relationships we will build over the course of the year, and encourage parent involvement in students' learning, as the connection between school and home is essential to students' success in the classroom.
